02/16/2007 International Medical Publishing, Inc Announces Release of The Guide to Clinical Preventive Services 2006International Medical Publishing, Inc is proud to announce the release of The Guide to Clinical Preventive Services 2006 on March 1, 2007. These evidence-based recommendations for clinicians address preventive services, including screening tests, counseling, and preventive medications for adults as well as children in the primary care setting. The guide includes the Task Force's "gold standard" recommendations on prevention and early detection for cancer, heart and vascular diseases, infectious disease, injury and violence, mental health conditions including substance abuse, metabolic, nutritional, and endocrine conditions, musculoskeletal conditions, and obstetric/gynecological conditions. The 2006 guide offers recommendations on 53 clinical preventive services made by the Task Force from 2001 to 2005. This guide has been adapted to a pocket-size book, making it easy for clinicians to consult the recommendations in their daily schedule. Recommendations are presented in an indexed, easy-to use format including at-a-glance charts. We are thrilled with the positive response from the previous year's guide. The feedback from the previous guide prompted a few changes. The most important change is that this year, in addition to the Task Force recommendations, the 2006 guide also includes the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) immunization schedules for children and adults. This collaboration with the ACIP means that clinicians now have a fuller spectrum of recommended clinical care in one resource. Also this year, we are releasing a new Adult Preventive Services Timeline displaying the current recommended services in a consumer-friendly format. While the 2006 guide serves as clinical reference for clinicians, the easy-to-read wall poster can serve as a reference for the patient. Recommendations and supporting statements from the Task Force can be found at the AHRQ web site at www.ahrg.gov/clinic/prevenix/htm. Dr. Thomas Masterson, publisher, reports that International Medical Publishing is pleased to be able to offer imprints of the most important titles in public health to a broad audience of clinicians and clinicians-in-training. "We would really like to see the Guide broadly distributed to primary care clinics across the country to help clinicians make the right choices in preventative medicine." As with its other seminal titles, IMP will make desk copies of The Guide to Clinical Preventive Services 2006 (handbook) available to professors of nursing, medicine, and public health. The guide is one of several preventative guides published by International Medical Publishing Inc. All of the guides can be found at www.medicalpublishing.com. The Task Force, which is supported by AHRQ, is the leading independent panel of private-sector experts in prevention and primary care. Its recommendations are considered the gold standard for clinical preventive services. It conducts rigorous, impartial assessments of the scientific evidence for a broad range of preventive services. The Guide to Clinical Preventive Services 2006, ISBN 978-1-58808-887-1, is available at www.medicalpublishing.com for $14.95.
